The Santa Cruz Children's School offers kindergarten through sixth grade. We also have an after school program. In addition to following California State Curriculum Guidelines, students are encouraged to follow their own interests and given materials, time and attention needed for in depth learning.

Students learn better by doing something real than they do just by listening to a lecture. Learning starts with concrete examples and then moves to the abstract.

We read real books and use real life experiences to study math. We do science experiments, and then write about them. Writing is used across the curriculum. Books are published and shared in class.

Students are encouraged to work in groups. They learn from each other and benefit from teaching each other.

Learning is intrinsically fun. School should be a joyous educational experience, and at Santa Cruz Children's School it is!
